My New Love...

My daughter had her baby on October 25th. A beautiful baby boy, Austin, he weighed 9.9 and was 22" long. I have been away from blog land as I am smitten with this little guy. I don't even like to be away from him for even a few moments. I saw him come into the world and he didn't have an easy time of it. He spent a week in NICU and I must say it was the scariest week of my life. He is growing like a leaf and doing great.

I have been "trying" to get things ready for Christmas. I have a few items to list on Etsy, hopefully my heart strings will quit tugging long enough for this grammy to take a few pics, hehe.

Baby Shower

Lets just get to the pics, shall we...

For the cake, I iced it with chocolate buttercream then I made the cowboy boots and the A out of fondant, the banner was made from burlap and 2 skewers. The cupcakes were iced in buttercream, then topped with fondant babies and cowboy hats and bandana pics that I printed up. I made rice krispie treats (hay bales) and smores on a stick, so easy, here is where I found them, The Decorated Cookie.
The wish crate was a hit, I covered the crate in chicken wire and covered clothespins in pretty paper, After guests wrote their wishes and tips they pinned them up.
I covered an old cork board in burlap, then added the frame with a silhouette of a mom and baby for her gift table.

Nesting

I was there, minding my own business in the ole GW, when the back doors flew open and out comes this man, just carrying this rocking chair like it was a burden to him, Gahhh. It must be rescued from his hands. Afterall, Grandma's must have their own rocking chair too, Right? Here she is
Can you see that price?
Even though she was in perfect condition, I needed to distress her a bit, so with a bit of sandpaper I went to work, not much, but, just enough. With my 9 month pregnant daughter, I thought it would be funny for her to be sitting on a nest of eggs. Off I go to The Graphics Fairy, I used graphite paper, traced it, then hand painted it with acrylic paints, then sealed it. I'm linking up there today, come pay her a visit.

Sonagrams and Sunshine

My daughter who is carrying my first grandbaby, a BOY, went for her last ultrasound. To say it was an amazing thing to see is an Understatement. For me to even pretend to know what a 4D U/S is a joke, But I love it. The details are just phenomenal. Here see for yourself.
His little face = pure LOVE. She is due anytime now and he weighs 7.8 already. This Grandma cannot hold this bundle of sunshine fast enough.

A Blank Slate

My friend Kirsten from Mia Stella Photography moved to Arizona to a rental home, and her house needed some help. She is a military wife and moves quite often, so she doesn't have much in decorations. Enter Tani and I. We walked through with our notebook and after taking some notes and her color choices, we hit the thrift stores.
We took a vase she got for $60, Yeah I know, It no longer fit with the new colors she picked out, so we decided to paint it, of course. SOMEHOW it was backed over with the truck, don't ask. With the few large pieces left, we decorated them and made wall art, what do you think?

We added the "k" Mirror and several bottles we found. Perfect for her Niche, don't ya think?
She has always wanted a hope chest, the lid was broken and was half price day at the ole GW. We fixed the lid and gave the ole gal some love and paint, oh and a new cushion. Isn't she a beauty?
With $7.00 end tables, we gave them a make over to house the $5.00 lamp and shade that we redid.
I took apart a $5 hideous side table and made some candle sticks and a big clock, which I will show at a later day.
Onto the kitchen. She chose red, black and white. This is but 1 little corner we tackled. Redid the old cupboard, painted it black then roughed it up a bit. And of course it wouldn't be complete without the memo board and the "new" lamp.
The big blank wall leading into her living room is now occupied by this star that I mod podged. I love it.
There are more pics that I will share later. Her home is a work in progress and I can't wait to finish it.

P.s.
I'm linking up to a paint party over at Domestically Speaking

19 Years? How?

Yep my baby is 19 today. How does that happen so fast? How can I still be 29, not to mention my oldest is 28, shhhh. I may have to upgrade to 39, sheesh.  Here she is on her wedding day June 4th, yeah I know, so young, but if her momma can do it, so can she, apparently.

Happy Birthday my love. I am so proud of the woman you've become.

Like it was yesterday...

I still see those images in my mind, I can still remember what I was doing the exact moment that our terror began. I thought this morning I would wake up and blog about my thoughts on this, the 10 year anniversary of Sept 11, then I clicked ahead to visit my favorite blogs and there it was...

Anna from An inch of gray lost her precious child in the flooding of Virginia. How tragic to lose a child, it's unspeakable, it's unimaginable. His life was just starting. How does this happen? His school pictures were just posted, Such a beautiful boy. I am heart broken and just gutted over this news. I don't know Anna, but I read her blog. Please say some prayers for this family as they try to cope with such a horrible loss. Jack was just 12 years old. This family needs all the love, prayers and support you can muster up. As I read all the comments, It is clearly evident that all her friends need the love, prayers and support as well as they grieve for their dear friend.

Please visit the blog of Kate at  The Big Piece of Cake, to see others who have been moved to write for or about Anna.

If you would like to do something in the way of a donation, I have heard that the family has requested they be made to Samaritan's Purse.
